Russellville Activities that Parents and Kids Can Enjoy Together

    Last updated 6 months ago

With a plethora of outdoor adventures for the whole family, the city of Russellville exemplifies everything that makes Arkansas “The Natural State.” You might be tempted to lose yourself in the hiking trails, fishing expeditions, and camping trips, but if you have kids, then be sure to check out these family-friendly activities and events while you’re in town:

    • Hit the Water. There are plenty of options to choose from when it comes to water attractions in Arkansas. Russellville alone boasts dozens of lakes, rivers, whitewater streams, clear mountain creeks, waterfalls, wetlands, and more! You may want to do some recreational fishing or even compete in a fishing tournament. Be sure to check for swimming regulations and fishing lesson availability for your kids so they can have just as much fun as you!
    • Enjoy Seasonal Community Events. We love fall and winter here in Russellville. Enjoy the outdoors as the leaves turn colors and the breeze turns chilly by checking out our Fall Festival and Chili Cook-off, September’s Pope County Fair, early December’s Christmas Parade, or the winter wonderland of drive-through Christmas light displays.

If you’re in town for Halloween, then you won’t want to miss KidFest at the Hughes Community Center. Hosted by Russellville Recreation and Parks Department, this fun and free event offers games, prizes, candy, and a safe place for kids to enjoy the night—in costume, if they wish! In the summer, you can enjoy an outdoor movie theater and ValleyFest, a festival fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club of the Arkansas River Valley.

    • Take Sports to the Extreme. Your kids will really think you’re cool when you sign your family up for hang gliding at one of our state parks or disc golf at one of the two “champion-caliber” disc golf courses hosted by Russellville’s Recreation and Parks Department.

If you’re hankering for some good old-fashioned family entertainment, then Russellville offers many traditional venues, including a bowling alley, roller rink, movie theater, and paintball and laser tag arena.
